Village Screen is back at Glastonbury Festival this year - they are looking for content

3679794452_d1456bbc98The Village Screen is back at Glastonbury for a second year and we’re looking forward to showing more great films from around the UK on our giant screens. (25m2).

Part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, the Village Screen will be broadcasting a programme of great short films and animations, interactive games, live feeds and
highlights of the BBC’s coverage.  We’ll be on air Wednesday to Sunday from 10.00am to 03.00am, 17 hours every day!

As part of our programme we’re looking for a mix of inspiring, funny, original and challenging films and animations made over the last year and looking for another
showcase to a potential audience of 177,000!

We are particularly keen to find content in the following categories:

After Dark – an adult film slot showing the seamier/sinister/darker side of life. According to the UK Film Council there is a substantial archive of quality content
on this theme that sometimes struggles to find an audience in the public arena but that we can accommodate.

Animation/Ambient – to include time delay, abstract, art film and VJ.  A daytime animation slot, great for family entertainment but equally effective late at night.

Olympic Values and Sustainability – a common theme for all our film strands this year are the Olympic Values of Friendship, Courage,  Determination, Excellence, Equality,
Respect and Inspiration; and the five themes of sustainability: Biodiversity, Climate Change, Healthy Living, Inclusion and Waste.

Terms & Conditions of the Curated Short Film Programme

Films should be submitted in DVD format and should be accompanied by a completed submissions/permissions form (below) by Friday 28 may 2010 to the following
address: 75 Wells Road, Glastonbury, Somerset BA6 9BY .  Please mark your envelope “Village Screen”;

The Village Screen project cannot take responsibility for undelivered or lost content and recommends that “master copies” should not be sent under any circumstances;

The Village Screen project cannot commit to returning DVDs but will  ensure that film-makers whose work is accepted for screening are informed and a daily
programme is published (via the Village Screen blog) identifying when you film will be shown;

Film-makers should avoid including commercial branding within the body of their films and, under no account, can include the names, brands or logos of commercial
sponsors in the title sequences of their films;

Films with content considered by the Village Screen organisers to be offensive, pornographic, exploitative or otherwise inappropriate can not be shown.

We would advise that because of the ambient noise on site, films with a strong visual narrative, as opposed to those reliant on dialogue to tell the story, work
better on the Village Screens."
