Film producer placement programme

mlp_logoMagic Light, in association with Skillset, is now recruiting for its highly successful producer placement programme. Through placements, up and coming producers will understand and engage with companies across the value chain to develop their business acumen and entrepreneurial skills.

This scheme is intended to provide up and coming film producers with insight into the working operations and business realities of the film market. By gaining a greater understanding of commercial processes, they will develop the business acumen and market understanding to be able to initiate, finance and sell successful British films.

The next generation of producers need to confront the changes which digital technology is having on the marketplace and on business models. To do this producers need to understand how companies along the film value chain are currently working, and are evolving. In addition the producers need to consider the implications of digital change for their own films and businesses.

The future of the British film industry depends on having informed, entrepreneurial producers who are engaging with the opportunities presented by technological change, market change and the audience appetite for British films. This Programme is intended to help inform emerging producers about some of these commercial realities and possibilities.

The Programme is funded by the Skillset Film Skills Fund as part of 'A Bigger Future' - the UK's Film Skills Strategy.

The Programme is run by production company Magic Light Pictures, in association with Skillset. Skillset is the industry body which supports skills and training for people and businesses to ensure the UK creative media industries maintain their world-class position.

The programme builds on the success of Magic Light's previous Programme in 2008 and the Samuelson Productions pilot scheme which ran from 2006-7.
