CALL FOR PAPERS extended
This two-day conference, hosted by the
Cinema and Television History (CATH) Research Centre in De Montfort University's Faculty of Humanities, will take place at Phoenix Square, Leicester on
Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th July 2010.
The conference will celebrate a century of cinema exhibition since the
Cinematograph Act 1909, which was the first major legislation relating to moving pictures, which came into force on 1st January 1910.
Proposals are invited for papers on any aspect of cinema exhibition including: audiences, technologies, cinema design and building, programming, legislation and other aspects of the cinemagoing experience.
Plenary speakers include:
Richard Gray (Cinema Theatres Association),
Allen Eyles,
Tim Brown (Duke of York cinema, Brighton) and
Laraine Porter (Phoenix Square)
