The Academy Masterclass Season Presents: STAR WARS producer Gary Kurtz Twice Oscar-nominated film producer Gary Kurtz started out as a camera assistant and, in an extraordinary career spanning almost 50 years to date, has made some of the highest-grossing films of all time.
Yet he started his career working with cult film makers such as Roger Corman and Monte Hellman, including ultra low-budget projects such as the original THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, before going to work with some of the leading directors in the industry including Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas.
His producing credits include: AMERICAN GRAFFITI, STAR WARS, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, DARK CRYSTAL and RETURN TO OZ. Gary was also instrumental in setting up the world-renowned special effects company Industrial Light & Magic.
