Alexander Mackendrick’s practical approach to filmmaking serves as one of the best introductions to the craft available today. This September, Paul Cronin, editor of the book On Film-Making, offers an opportunity for filmmakers to come together and immerse themselves in Mackendrick’s influential teachings over three intensive days at The London Film School. Structured around rarely seen footage of Mackendrick discussing his approach to filmmaking, exclusive video interviews with former students and colleagues, and a host of film clips, the workshop also offers a free copy of the Mackendrick book, an extensive handout of extra material and evening networking drinks. Dare ProtoPlay is Scotland's biggest FREE video gaming education and consumer event, taking place at the EICC from 13-15 August between 10am-6pm. The main aim of Dare ProtoPlay is to showcase the finished prototypes created by the talented teams who take part in the prestigious Dare to be Digital video games development competition each year. Other activites are also created every year to educate and interest the public about video games creation.

The Rose d'Or Festival, held annually in Lucerne, Switzerland, draws the best of the year's entertainment television programming. Also this year, the Rose d'Or Academy will take place during the Rose d'Or Festival from 18 – 22 September 2010 and gives young new talent a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in an intensive one week workshop. This year the Academy offers a workshop on "How to produce an Entertainment pitch pilot".
