learned from years in the industry.”
“You'll find insights into everything

via room acoustics and PPMs.”

*Excite and inspire young people
*Encourage and foster talent
*Showcase high quality animation
These are achieved by a year round programme of workshops for schools and young people in the South West, with information about further education and career paths into the animation industry; competitions for animators; showcasing high quality international animation and curating exhibitions to entertain and inform the public.

South West Screen is hosting a three day conference in Bristol for the newly founded European Creative Business Network (ECBN) from 2-4 March 2011 to explore the latest developments and opportunities of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and to discuss the services that the ECBN can provide.
Founded in October 2010, the ECBN is an alliance of European partners including South West Screen, working together to establish the European Union as a more accessible, effective and rewarding single market for small creative entrepreneurs. Following the ECBN’s inaugural summit in Essen, Germany last year, the network has selected Bristol as the destination for its second conference.
South West Screen has invited key creative businesses from across Europe to discuss IPTV trends and opportunities, to build partnerships, collaborate on projects and use the opportunity to advance their businesses.
The conference will also be a valuable chance for support agencies to discuss common challenges faced by creative businesses across Europe, and design new interventions to help overcome these challenges.
The ECBN conference is a private, invitation only event, but if you would like to find out more, please contact Nico Macdonald at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Bournemouth University's (BU) cutting edge facilities are the focus of an article published on the Public Technology website.
In 2007 the Media School invested in a high definition studio, equipped with industry standard equipment, making BU the first university in the country to possess such technology.
The article features an interview with BU's Senior Lecturer in Television Production, Jonathan Auckland. He describes how the HD studio has helped “bridge the gap between being a student and being in industry”, so the Media School is fully equipped to prepare graduates for industry life.
