We are delighted to announce that the fifth edition of Sounding Out will take place at Bournemouth University on 8-10 September 2010. It is intended that this international event will prove to be a major forum for discussion and interaction between sound artists of all kinds. The conference will be on the overall theme of Soundworlds – Sonic Arts, Film and Radio.
We look forward to welcoming you in Bournemouth this September.
The theme will bring forward some convergent works and writings in this area.

Call for papers
The submission of papers and panels is invited for consideration at this truly international conference. The 2010 event aims to maintain and enhance the Sounding Out’s high reputation as a major forum for discussion and interaction between practitioners, artists and academics working in the field of sound.
On this page, we list some of the themes which we hope to explore in the conference. These are by no means prescriptive but are intended as a guide. We are planning to base the conference on the overall theme of Soundworlds – Sonic Arts, Film and Radio including these indicative subject areas, (again, retaining flexibility) which will help us shape individual paper sessions and panels.
Submit your proposals
Proposals for both individual and panel presentations are welcome. Abstracts of 250 words (with accompanying biographical information of no more than one page) should be submitted electronically in PDF format or Word document by 1 June, 2010 to:
