The Academy is run by a team of three including two part-time Co-Directors who continue their external work to maximise the potential for industry engagement. The Academy staff bring industry contacts at the highest level, professional expertise and business knowledge to enhance your experience as a student and to support you as a graduate.
Richard Johns, Co-Director

Richard is a seasoned film producer perhaps best known as a producer of Shadow of the Vampire (2001), the double Oscar-nominated film starring John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe. He also produced feature films ranging from comedy thriller Killing Time to award-winning drama Dangerous Parking. Before his career in cinema he worked in marketing at Procter and Gamble, as well as independent television and video production. He is also Chief Executive of feature film production company Corona Pictures.

Murray Weston, Co-Director
Worked in theatre, film and television including film production work with Tokyo Cinema, IWF Göttingen and Riga Documentary Film Studio. He remains part-time Chief Executive of the British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC) which delivers specialist content and services to UK universities. He is Chair of the UK Film Archive Forum and, until the end of 2009, Chair of The Grierson Trust and British Documentary Awards.

Avril Harrison, Manager
Avril has over 16 years experience working within the University sector and media based provision at a strategic level. Until 2008 she was responsible for the financial and resource management of the Media School at Bournemouth University, the largest Media School in the UK with 2500 students and an annual turnover of over £13 million. She now works as project manager to the BSMA and represents the Academy on various national and regional bodies serving higher education and the creative industries.
