3D Technology

During Bournemouth Academy's 3D Week, one of the highlights of the event was a visit to the ODEON Bournemouth on the morning of Thursday 18th November when Jim Slater, Editor of Cinema Technology, gave an exceptional presentation summarising the state of the art in digital cinema and 3D projection.  A copy of the presentation slides may be downloaded from here.

Screen_shot_2010-10-29_at_21.49.31The AG-3DA1 is Panasonic's full HD 3D camcorder that records to SD card media.  Weighing less than 6.6 pounds, the AG-3DA1 is equipped with dual lenses and two 1920 x 1080 2.07 megapixel 3-MOS imagers to record 1080/60i, 50i, 30p, 25p and 24p (native) and 720/60p and 50p in AVCHD.   It will record for up to 180 minutes on dual 32GB SD cards in Panasonic's professional AVCHD PH mode, and offers interfaces including dual HD-SDI out, HDMI (version 1.4), two XLR connectors, built-in stereo microphone and twin-lens camera remotes.

Screen_shot_2010-10-29_at_21.03.34A new lens from Panasonic which has a micro four-thirds mount, internal twin fixed lenses and diaphragms (F12) has been released.   Described as the world's first interchangeable 3D lens the LUMIX G 12.5mm / F12 (H-FT012) is designed for 3D shooting (35 mm camera equivalent: 65 mm). It has two optical systems installed within the diameter of the lens mount, creating stereo images from the left and right lenses, to be processed with a 3D image processing system.
